Job Description Good Stead Farm, a Certified Organic vegetable farm serving Midland County and the surrounding communities, is looking to hire a part-time crew member for the 2024 growing season. The ideal candidate for this position understands the importance of details and accuracy, can gracefully accept correction, can work under deadlines, can join and be a contributing member of a team, and is a thoughtful communicator. The candidate must be comfortable with standing for long periods of time, bending, kneeling, and squatting for an hour or more at a time, and working in variable weather conditions. Job Details Tasks Include:
Wash/Pack Assistance
Washing and storing freshly harvested vegetables
Accurately weighing, bagging and labeling greens
Packing customer orders
Harvest day prep and clean up
Sanitizing vegetable containers, tools, and equipment
Harvesting
Harvesting vegetables and fresh greens as part of a team
Being able to meet quality and quantity goals, under time restrictions
Field Maintenance
Using hand tools to weed and maintenance the field
Transplanting vegetable starts by hand
Job Duration: April 2024 - December 2024 (ideally looking to fill this as a year-round position)
Time: 25-35 hours per week (mornings are a must).
Compensation:
Starts at $13/hr, with performance based raises after 4 months
Organic veggies to take home
Gear stipend ($150 to be applied to footwear, rain gear, etc.)
Experience: Prior experience in farming, the service industry, or an outdoor-oriented job is preferred. Additional Requirements:
Must be able to confidently and consistently lift 40+ lbs
Must be 18 years or older
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must speak english
Must have transportation to and from the farm
