Job Description
Good Stead Farm, a Certified Organic vegetable farm serving Midland County and the surrounding communities, is looking to hire a part-time crew member for the 2024 growing season. The ideal candidate for this position understands the importance of details and accuracy, can gracefully accept correction, can work under deadlines, can join and be a contributing member of a team, and is a thoughtful communicator. The ideal candidate must be comfortable with: early mornings, standing for long periods of time, working outdoors in variable weather conditions, independently setting up and running our farmer's market stand, talking to customers about fresh produce, and interacting with the public with a patient, kind, and helpful demeanor.  If this rings true to you, please continue reading below:

Job Details
Tasks Include:
  • Safely driving the market van to farmer's market, loading it up after sales, and driving it back to the farm.
  • Operating Square POS for all sales and pre-orders
  • Setting up a visually attractive farmer's market display.
  • Managing the display by restocking, re-merchandising, misting, and/or unloading (if necessary) to ensure a beautiful display, while reducing product loss as much as possible.
  • Managing the transaction of pre-sale and wholesale orders at market.
  • Being friendly and professional with customers, and willing and able to answer any questions that may arise.
  • Communicating all pertinent customer, sales, and market feedback to the farm manager/owner.

Job Duration:
May 2024  - October 2024

Time:
~9 hours/week, every Wednesday from 5:25AM-1:45 PM. However, if interested in more hours, there's an opportunity to take on shifts at the farm or assisting at the Saturday Farmer's Market. 

Compensation:
$13/hr + organic vegetables

Experience:
Prior experience with retail, or at restaurants, farms, or farmer's market is preferred.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to confidently and consistently lift 40+ lbs
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must speak english
  • Must have transportation to and from the farm
