February Schedule Open Registration for Summer Fundays on the Farm begins! Session 1: June 22-25 from 9-2 p.m. Summer Fundays is our version of a farm summer day camp, for children ages 6-11. This program creates the opportunity for kiddos in our community to be involved with the farm in an intentional and thoughtful way. Our curriculum incorporates guided participation, experiential learning and play!
Kids will be involved in all things farm. This includes but is not limited to activities like meeting our farm animals and learning how to help care for them through basic vet skills, scavenger hunts, growing plants and sowing seeds in our greenhouse and dedicated education garden, farm games, learning about the farms' bee hives, wool processing, making compost, using microscopes to examine our farm's smallest residents, and even learning how to harvest and prepare vegetables into simple dishes for an afternoon snack. April Schedule Spring Babies on the Farm Saturday, April 25th from 1-3 p.m. Spring is the time for growth and renewal on the farm, for plants and for animals alike. Join us for an opportunity to meet and visit with our hard-working animals, while they're still babies! We'll have chicks, ducklings and lambs in the barn. Because our baby animals are prone to illness and stress just like human babies, we'll have hand washing stations for before and after the tour. May Schedule Prepping and Planting your Spring Garden Sunday, May 17th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Sunday, May 31st from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Looking to go more in-depth with your garden prep? Want help deciding between transplanting or direct seeding? Thinking about soil-testing? How about weed or disease management? Hoping for a bit more success in your garden? This on-farm workshop is meant to cover all of this and more. During the session, we will spend some time in our greenhouse as well as the vegetable garden. Everyone will leave with a handout, their choice of four seedlings, as well as their choice of seed packet for direct sowing. 3rd Annual Organic Seedling Sale - CANCELLED THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED DUE TO COVID 19 & FLOODING The wait is over - it's time to plant! Stop out to the farm to fill your garden beds. We'll have a wide variety of certified organic vegetable, herb and flower seedlings - all ready to plant. We'll also have a limited variety of organic seeds for sale, as well. We'll be around to answer any questions you might have as you shop. All are welcome! This event is open to the public and does not require registration.
June Schedule Tomatoes 101 Sunday, June 14th from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Want to up your tomato game but aren't sure how? Confused about determinates vs. indeterminates? In this workshop we'll cover this and much more. Expect to spend time out in the tomatoes, learning how to prune and trellis your way into a season of less disease and (hopefully!) more fruits. We'll also cover various management styles and options depending on your home growing environment. All participants will leave with a handout and direct hands-on experience. Tickets are $20/each. August Schedule Heirloom Tomato Tasting & Farm Tour Saturday, August 1st from 6:00-8:30 p.m. We're holding our first ever community farm tour, complete with an heirloom tomato tasting!The tour will start at 6, where we will show you around our vegetable fields, growing tunnels, and pastures. After the tour, we'll have tables set up out in the field where you will get the chance to taste your way through each and every one of our nearly 20 tomato varieties.Afterwards, we invite you to bring a blanket, pack a picnic and drinks and enjoy the the evening on the lawn. Kid's Classes: Art on the Farm Monday, August 3 from 9-2 p.m. In August's Kid's Classes, each week we focus on a theme and dive into it! For children ages 6-11, Art on the Farm focuses on the farm as a visual space. The class will learn the basics of composition, drawing and sketching and watercolor using the fields, flowers and animals as their models and inspiration. Kid's Classes: Pollinators, Beneficial Bugs & Pests Monday, August 10 from 9-2 p.m. In August's Kid's Classes, each week we focus on a theme and dive into it! For children ages 6-11, Pollinators, Beneficial Bugs & Insects is an opportunity to learn the roles that bugs and insects play on a farm and in nature. We'll spend time roaming the farm's pasture, digging in soil and examining various plants in search of their buggy inhabitants. Kids will also get a chance to learn about honey bees from the farm's bee keeper! We'll see the hives, sample some honey and learn about beekeeping. For children ages 6-11, Viewing the Farm through a Microscope is an opportunity to explore some of the farm's smallest inhabitants. The kids will travel barn, creek and pasture on a scavenger hunt for specimens to investigate. They'll also learn about the role that compost and decomposition play on a farm and in nature!
